「私(わたし)は…です。」/ To say your name
For example, when you introduce yourself, you say your name at first.
That’s why 「私は山田(やまだ)さくらです」 is “I’m Sakura Yamada”.
“It’s nice to meet you” is 「はじめまして」, and “I’m Sakura Yamada” is「私は山田(やまだ)さくらです」. Finally, 「よろしくお願(ねが)いします」means “I hope I can make a good friendship(relationship) with you”.
And 「主語(しゅご)」is “Subject”, 「動詞(どうし)」is “Verb”, 「補語(ほご)」is “Complement”, and 「助詞(じょし)」is “Postpositional particle”.
In addition, 「主語(しゅご)」and 「補語(ほご)」have a same meaning.
In other words, 「主語(しゅご)」is “I” and 「補語(ほご)」is “Sakura Yamada”, her name.
「私(わたし)は…人(じん)」です。/ To say your nationality
When you tell your nationality, you say 「私は…人(じん)です」.
For example, 「私は日本(にほん)人です。」,「私は中国(ちゅうごく)人です。/I’m a Chinese.」, 「私は韓国(かんこく)人です。/I’m a Korean.」, 「私はアメリカ人です。/I’m an American.」, 「私はイギリス人です。/I’m a British」, 「私はフランス人です。/I’m a French」and so on.
And you can omit the second 「私は」.
「私は…です。」/ To say your job
Next, if you are a doctor, you can say 「私は医者(いしゃ)です。/I’m a doctor.」.
And if you are a teacher, you can say 「私は先生(せんせい)です。/I’m a teacher.」.
And if you are a company employee, 「私は会社員(かいしゃいん)です。/I’m a company employee.」.
Also you can omit the second 「私は」.
「私は…から来(き)ました。」/ To say your birthplace
When you want to say your birthplace, you should say 「私は…から来(き)ました。」
For example, 「私は日本から来ました。/ I’m from Japan.」、「私は中国から来ました。/ I’m from China.」, 「私は韓国から来ました。/ I’m from Korea.」, 「私はアメリカから来ました。/ I’m from America(USA).」, 「私はイギリスから来ました。/ I’m from UK.」, and 「私はフランスから来ました。/ I’m from France.」.
And 【～から】is 「副詞節(ふくしせつ)」, an adverbial clause.
Then you can omit the second 「私は」, too.
「私は…ではありません。」/ To deny something about you
When you deny something about you like a nationality or a job, you say 「私は…ではありません。」
For example, 「私は日本人ではありません。/ I’m not a Japanese.」, 「私は中国人ではありません。/ I’m not a Chinese.」, 「私は韓国人ではありません。/ I’m not a Korean.」, 「私は医者ではありません。/ I’m not a doctor.」, 「私は先生ではありません。/ I’m not a teacher.」, and 「私は会社員ではありません。/ I’m not a a company employee.」and so on.
